Rector of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism Rafis Burganov took part in the anniversary events of the Siberian State University of Physical Culture and Sports in Omsk.
April 27 was the 75th anniversary of the entry into force of the order of the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports under the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR № 164 of 27.04.1950 on the reorganisation of the Omsk Technical School of Physical Culture into the Omsk State Institute of Physical Culture.
As part of the anniversary programme, the Siberian University also hosted the III All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation ‘The role of organisational and management activity and sports administration in the development of sport and physical culture of the population’. It was attended by representatives of various regions of Russia, as well as Belarus and Kazakhstan.
The jubilee celebrations were held with the participation of Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation and President of the Russian Olympic Committee.
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers were remembered on this day, because the formation of the university in the post-war years fell on the shoulders of teachers and staff, many of whom had travelled the roads of the Great Patriotic War. The whole block of the concert was dedicated to Omsk as the youth capital of Russia, because the students of SibSUFK are the sports youth of Omsk. It is they who are to continue the glorious sporting traditions of the region.
