Rafis Burganov, Rector of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, presented certificates of newly masters of sports of Russia to members of the Sintez water polo team as part of the Day of Physical Culture Workers in Kazan.
The large-scale event was held in Uram Park as part of the federal project "Sport as a Standard of Life".
A concert, demonstrations by sports school pupils, a volleyball match among professional clubs and an autograph session by leading athletes of Tatarstan were organised for guests and participants of the holiday. The culmination of the festival was the setting of a symbolic record - ten Kazan athletes moved a hitch of five Kamazes weighing 100 tonnes under the Millennium Bridge
A lot of different events awaited fans of active lifestyle, including street basketball competitions, boxing tournament and sailing competitions.
Tatarstan's Sports Minister Vladimir Leonov took part in the opening ceremony.
"We have earned the right to celebrate this holiday like no one else, as the republic is one of the most sporting regions of our country. Many thanks to the coaches and mentors, who through love for their work, discipline and labour nurture sports talents - champions of our country", - said the Minister of Sports.
