Teachers, managers and employees responsible for anti-corruption work at Povolzhsky University attended the lecture ‘Main directions of Russia's anti-corruption policy’.

The educational and awareness-raising event was organised by the Znanie Society. The lecturer was Igor Bikeev, deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, member of the Presidium of the Commission for Coordination of Anti-Corruption Work in Tatarstan, First Vice-Rector of Kazan Innovation University.

During his speech he spoke about the history of the introduction of the federal law ‘On Combating Corruption’ in 2008, noted the importance of its observance and touched upon the harm of illegal money transactions for the development of the country's economy and the independent prosperity of all industries.

Igor Bikeev emphasised that the essence of anti-corruption is to create an atmosphere in which no one dared, could or would want to engage in corruption.

- The most important thing that the listeners of the lecture should remember is that corruption causes damage to each of us, even if we are not involved in this relationship. Its price is too high, because it hinders economic development and the well-being of citizens. If people have this understanding, I think they will try to avoid these situations themselves and start to deter others. Corruption concerns all of us, that is why it is seen as a threat to national security,’ Igor Bikeev shared.

Natalya Grechannikova, Vice-Rector for Administration, Social Development and Youth Policy of Volga Region University, noted that the lecture was productive for the staff. According to her, Igor Bikeev conducted the lecture in an accessible and understandable form, spoke about important aspects of anti-corruption and warned about possible situations that can be encountered in everyday life.
