Students of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism celebrated the Flag Day of the Republic of Tatarstan by distributing Tatarstan tricolour ribbons at the university, thus reminding the history of the holiday.
Flag Day of the Republic of Tatarstan has been celebrated since 1991 - the State Flag of Tatarstan was approved on 29 November by the resolution of the Supreme Soviet of the Tatar SSR.
The author of the flag of Tatarstan is the People's Artist of the Republic Tavil Khaziakhmetov.
Its colours reflect the main principles of our multinational people - revival to life, purity of thoughts, energy and strength.
Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the residents of the republic on the holiday today.
