Modern and high-tech equipment has appeared in the Medical and Sanitary Unit of the Research Institute of the Volga Region University: one of the most effective for health promotion is a cryosauna. It is located in the Rowing Sports Centre on the territory of the Medical Unit.
Cryosauna is a method of recovery, which refers to the general cold effect on the body. It is a chamber where cold air with nitrogen gas is supplied. The maximum cooling temperature of the cryo chamber is minus 160 degrees, but in therapy, minus 130 degrees is used, and the procedure itself lasts two minutes.
The procedure has immunomodulatory and tonic effects, increases the body's internal reserves, and relieves muscle tension. One of the important effects is mood enhancement: after a short-term stress, a person feels a rush of positive emotions.
‘The cryocamera of the Medical and Sanitary Unit is called ‘Ice Queen’ and was manufactured in Russia. It is a modern technology that allows you to become ‘faster, higher, stronger’ and better recover after competitions. It is useful not only for athletes, but also for everyone who wants to improve their health,’ said Rustam Yakubov, deputy head of the medical unit of the Research Institute. - According to the medical unit, a course of cryotherapy consisting of seven procedures helps reduce the frequency of colds. A course of ten procedures is equal to a year's hardening at home, which significantly strengthens the immune system.
