More than 300 students and staff of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism joined the city-wide clean-up day in Kazan today. Representatives of the university had to clean up the Dubravnaya forest, as well as the territory of all university facilities: the Universiade Village, academic and laboratory building, Burevestnik Swimming Pool, Zilant Ice Complex, Tennis Academy, Rowing Centre, Gymnastics Centre, Badminton Centre, Aquatics Palace.

Rector of the Sports University Rafis Burganov demonstrated on his own example that it is an important, necessary and noble activity, and took part in the clean-up campaign. He joined the army of students in the Dubravnaya forest.

Through their joint efforts, the sporting university volunteers collected 7 lorry loads of rubbish.

"I think it is a good tradition. It's great that in the country and in our country such a beautiful custom is supported. It's nice that the youth do not stand aside and care about the environment. But we shouldn't forget about the cleanliness of our nature on weekdays either!" says Dinara Sadykova, a third-year student of the Institute of Physical Culture.
