Polina Kudermetova, a second-year student of the Volga Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, is awarded a note of gratitude by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan. The letter of gratitude was presented today during the meeting between President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the sporting dynasty of our republic - Eduard, Veronika and Polina Kudermetov. The meeting took place at the RT Government House.
Eduard Kudermetov is a Master of Sports of Russia in Ice Hockey. For almost 20 years he has been playing hockey professionally. For 10 of these years he played for Ak Bars Kazan, with which he won the gold medal in the Russian Championship in 1998. After retirement, he began coaching his daughters Veronika and Polina, who have now taken up tennis.
Veronika Kudermetova, Merited Master of Sport of Russia, has achieved high results in international tournaments. A month ago she became the seventh Russian in history to win the doubles title at the WTA Finals.
Polina Kudermetova became the Russian Masters of Sport at the age of 15. Her achievements include winning six ITF singles titles, twice champion of Russia in mixed doubles, Russian Cup winner in singles.
Rustam Minnikhanov recognised the great contribution of the Kudermetov family to the development of sport in the Republic. In particular, thanks to Veronika and Polina's outstanding achievements tennis is becoming ever more popular in the republic.
The President of Tatarstan presented Veronika Kudermetova with a medal in honour of the 100th anniversary of the TASSR. And Eduard and Polina Kudermetov were honoured with a Commendation from the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
