Anastasia Ogneva, a student of the Volga Region University of Sport and Tourism, became a two-time medallist of the Summer Paralympic Games 'We are Together: Sport' International Complex Competition.

The competition, which ended in Sochi, gathered Paralympians from 10 countries and 78 regions of Russia, including 70 Paralympic champions. The Summer Games programme included nine events: athletics, swimming, table tennis, archery, para-taekwondo, wheelchair fencing, football for people with cerebral palsy, draughts and chess. More than 350 sets of medals were won, and several world records were broken, as well as 18 Russian records.

Sophomore Ogneva Anastasia twice climbed the podium in athletics. First, she won the bronze medal in the 100m race, and a day later she snatched the silver medal in the 200m race, running the last 30 meters of the distance perfectly.

As noted by the athlete's coach Dmitry Mostyakov, only the leaders of the season, who received personal invitations, participated in the Games. “Anastasia is the champion of Russia in the 100 meters in the sport of the blind, so she has quite a lot of experience in performing at the All-Russian level. But at the international one, it started for the first time, so I consider these awards to be a great start. It's nice to end the summer season on such a positive note,” said the senior lecturer of the Department of Theory and Methods of Athletics and Rowing Sports.
