Kazan has confident prospects in almost all sports. There is a modern sports infrastructure that meets international standards. This was stated by the Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin at the closing of the I All-Russian Spartakiad among the strongest athletes in artistic gymnastics. The competition was held at one of the facilities of the Volga University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism in the Gymnastics Center.
The closing ceremony was attended by Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin, President of the Tatarstan Gymnastics Federation Marat Bariev, head coach of the Russian national artistic gymnastics team Valentina Rodionenko, Minister of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov and Rafis Burganov, President of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism.
Speaking to journalists, the Minister of Sports of the country noted that Kazan has done a lot to organize the competitions of the Spartakiade.
"Eleven sports were organized here. Very deservedly Tatarstan takes the 4th place in the competition among the subjects of Russia. It's a guarantee and evidence that all sports here are actively developing," said Oleg Matytsin. - We'll sum up the results together with the federations, with the regions that took part in the arrangement of the Spartakiade. It's also a good and significant result, which allowed us to look at the resources of the regions. It also allows us to look at how ready each region is for the development of various sports. The Spartakiad gave us an opportunity to look at the reserves and the readiness of our top athletes for today. And it was very timely organized, because during the sanctions athletes were deprived of the opportunity to participate in international competitions.
We see that the competitions are in demand, we see the positive evaluation from coaches, athletes, regional leaders, and sports federations. It is important that the government has decided to award prizes to the winners and medalists of the Spartakiad and coaches. It is important to support them in terms of social guarantees and financial security.
We have seen the human, human resources. We see that it's not easy for athletes and Olympic champions to maintain their leadership, and we see the motivation of young athletes to be part of the national team. That's one of the main purposes of the Spartakiade. We made a decision to hold it once every four years after the Olympic Games in order to plan the next Olympic cycles and identify the resources and shortcomings in the preparation of athletes.
Together with our colleagues we will analyze the results and make plans for the future, but today we can say that the Spartakiade has definitely taken a place of one of the main All-Russian competitions in our calendar," said Oleg Matytsin.
