"RPF-University of Sports" - this is how the men's basketball club of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism is now called.
Why exactly this name? Everything is quite simple, "RPF" is the abbreviation of the boxing promotion company - the new sponsor of the team, "University of Sports" is the place of students, where most of the players study.
The team in the season 22/23 is declared for participation in the High league of the Championship of Russia and the Cup of Russia in basketball.
The friendly game with one of the future Highest league opponents was held on September, 7 in the University. "Cheboksary Hawks" came straight from the Chuvash Republic. The game ended in favor of the rivals.
“The beginning of the game was very successful for us, we managed to make a breakthrough of +12 points. But, I think, we did not have enough concentration for the whole game and in some moments of rigidity. You can feel a different level of play and contact,” says RPF-University of Sports player Mikhail Ogleznev.
The nearest official competitions will take place from September 11-13. Kazan will host a traditional tournament for the Cup of the President of BC "Unix" E.B. Bogachev, whose participants will be: "RPF-University of Sports" (Kazan), "Parma-M" (Perm), "Unix-2" (Kazan), "Samara-2" (Samara). Participation in the Cup of Russia is scheduled for the end of September.
