Amazing and exciting, beautiful and intriguing, that's exactly what it is – sport. But even more beauty is filled with this kind of art by the people you meet in it. In the new section "Sports in faces" we will introduce you to the versatile and interesting athletes of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The hero of today's issue is Nail Shaykhutdinov, the "welterweight" of the Volga Region University handball team. He trains hard during the day and writes poetry in the evening.

At the age of 10, Nail began his sports career and "head over heels" went into handball, and grew up to be a candidate for master of sports. Before entering the university, he played as a member of the Belgorod Spartak team, and also proved himself in beach handball, becoming a multiple prize-winner of Russia. At the age of 16, he found himself in a new hobby - he joined a musical group playing indie rock. The collective later broke up, but the creativity never let go of Nail. By the end of his first year of study, our hero became the silver medalist of the All-Russian tournament "Heroes of the City" and published his first book!

– How did you come to be creative?

– My hobby is poetry. In fact, I don't remember exactly how I came to this. There was a case when I talked to a girl. I wrote her poems, but she didn't appreciate them, and I stopped communicating with her. Then I decided to try just writing and realized that I like it and enjoy it. I wanted to become a musician, I was inspired and inspired by Viktor Tsoi. Of course, at first it turned out so-so. Later I bought a guitar. I started trying something, and it started to work out. Now I position myself as a poet, not as a musician.

– Does poetry help you in life situations or sports? What do you like to write about most of all?

– Hardly in sports, but in life situations – yes. To write a poem, I read a lot - this is also my hobby. With the help of literature, it is easier to recognize people, it is easier to understand what they will do in some situation. Therefore, in life it is a pretty good helper. I don't have a specific topic, I always write about different things, and most often about what surrounds me and how I react to it. I don't like to give in to any one topic and always try to dilute my creativity.

– Do you remember your first poem?

– The first poem... It was terrible, although at that time it seemed to me that it was very well written. I deleted it from my notes and forgot it soon so as not to come back. Maybe it's wrong, but that's it.

– How did you decide to release your book and where did you find regular readers?

– I've wanted to publish my book for a long time, but it's quite expensive. Not so long ago I had a birthday – May 1, and I decided to invest all the donated money in books, which I am very happy about! And the reader appeared thanks to performances at poetry slams and holding their own personal events, literary evenings. Somehow it all turned out that way. I have a public VKontakte, where I post all my poems. A lot of people from completely different cities have signed up. The group is called "Stones in the Sky".
