The team of the Volga region Rugby Academy is preparing for the spring part of the season, in which our students will spend a lot of important matches. One of the important stages of preparation for the season was the tournament "Snow Rugby-2019", held at the stadium KAI" Olympus " on February 23.
It is worth noting that Rugby in the snow – it's not fun, but quite an independent kind of popular game, the rules are similar to the gaining popularity of beach Rugby. Also, as in the game on the sand, in the snow for the implemented attempt team is awarded one point. Already held and representative tournaments in snow Rugby. One of these, according to the head coach of "academicians" Andrei Polikarpov, was recently held in Italy.
The significance of the February tournament in Kazan emphasized the fact that the participated students of the MAI, and from the stands of the stadium during games was observed by the head coach of the national team of Russia in Rugby-7 Vaisala Serevi. One of the best players in Rugby 7 in the world, the former leader of the national team of Fiji, nicknamed the "Maestro", Serevi, completing his playing career, led the national team as coach and led it to victory in the World series 2005-2006.
Well, "Maestro" had the opportunity to make sure that the Volga region Academy, which took up the development of Rugby at the University recently, have already achieved decent results. In spite of the fact that" academicians " for the first time happened to play on snow, having won two unconditional victories over KSMU and KNITU-KAI, our girls took the first place. And the guys reached the final, in which they lost to the capital's students from MAI-1. The game was on an equal footing. But our boys did not have enough experience.
And yet Rugby in the snow-it's also fun, and a holiday for fans of one of the most popular games in the world. And where a feast, there's a tea party! During the break between the games, the hosts prepared a treat in the form of pancakes with hot tea and pilaf for athletes, coaches and guests.
According to Andrey Polikarpov, the tournament has become an important part of the preparation for the responsible games of the season. Already in April, the student championship of the PFD will be held, the composition of the participants of which, however, has not yet been determined. Academicians would certainly like to play in this tournament. The games of the second stage of the Kazan student League are scheduled for may. Recall that the first autumn stage ended with a convincing victory of our girls, and the guys took second place.
- In the spring, the women's team must confirm its leadership, and the guys take revenge from the combined energy University, - so define the tasks of the "academicians" for the spring, the head coach of the team Andrey Polikarpov.
During the time since the first set of players in the team, Rugby Academy, according to Polikarpov, made an impressive step forward in terms of development of gaming skills. Especially considering that in both men's and women's teams only one player engaged in Rugby before entering the University.
- At first we trained and played only on enthusiasm. Now came the understanding of the rules and essence of Rugby. And we work already at the expense of acquired skills.
It helps to master the tricks of Rugby and the fact that this spring, "academics" train at the same time and on the same site with the players of the main team "Dynamo-Energy" on the football and track and field arena. The opportunity students were given at the request of the Polikarpov Vice-President of the Rugby Federation Tatarstan Pavel Kalaskin. It is clear that pros and students train separately-too different level of preparation-but at the same time "academicians" can study that is called, on a live example. In addition, at any time you can ask for advice from experienced players. And with the Dynamo "Junior" wards Polikarpova we played some friendlies. The experience of joint training with professionals will certainly help "academicians" to successfully perform not only in spring tournaments, but also in summer student competitions under the auspices of the Association of student sports clubs.
