Bronze medal world championship paradigmand, held in Antalya, Turkey, was won by a first-year student of Volga Academy Rinat Yakupov.
The championship was attended by about 400 athletes from 69 countries. Rinat plays in functional sport class K41 (the athlete's bilateral arm amputation from the shoulder, combined with a complete loss of arm and humerus) in the weight category up to 61 kg In the quarterfinals of the "Akademik", which is the Udmurt Republic, defeated the Polish athlete. But in the semifinals, faced compatriot, 5x at that time world champion Vladislav Krichfalushiy.  Rinat lost to the representative of Perm Krai in October in the final of the championship of Russia. In Turkey, Krichfalushiy was again stronger, and eventually won the sixth gold medal of the world championship. Rinat Yakupov rose to the third step of the podium. Today, in an interview he admitted that he set a goal in the near future to improve the statistics of matches with Kricfalusi, and in the future to take part in the Paralympics. Although his sports class is not included in the program of parathekwondo competitions at the next Paralympic games in Tokyo, but in four years it is likely there will be changes.
In Turkey, the Russian team won 4 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals and won the team standings among men.
