The team of the Volga region Academy of physical culture, sports and tourism won the all-Russian competitions in cross-country skiing among students. Following the results of competitions the trio of "academicians" who in March will go to Krasnoyarsk on University games-2019 was defined.
More than 300 athletes from 37 regions of Russia took part in the competitions held in Zainsk since February 7.  In total, the program of the competition included 5 races. It was one of the stages of selection for the XXIX world winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk, which will be held from 2 to 12 March.
The men's team of the Republic of Tatarstan, which included students of the Volga region Academy Sergey Lytnev, Yaroslav Rybochkin, Egor Kazarinov and Sergey Ardashev, took the first place in the relay race 4X7, 5 km. Students of the Academy Olga Kucheruk, Maria Likhacheva and Lali Kvaratskhelia won the relay 3x5 km classic style.
Sergey Ardashev showed the second result in the 10 km classic style race and became the third in the 10 km free style race.
Yegor Kazarinov won the 20-kilometer distance free style, the second was Niyaz Taipov.  
Sophomore Christina Matsokina won the sprint, and master's Olga Kucheruk-finished third. In the asset Kucerka a second place in race on 5 km classical style.
As a result, at the Universiade in Krasnoyarsk in the ski race as part of the Russian team will perform three "academicians" master's Jan Kirpichenko, Christina Matsokina and 4th year student Yegor Kazarinov.
