The Champions of the first draw of the student Rugby League of Tatarstan were students of the Volga region Academy of sports. The men's team of the University won silver medals.
14 teams (8 men's and 6 women's) took part in the first championship of the student Rugby League of RT (students play Rugby-7). This is more than 200 student athletes. The winners were determined by the results of two rounds, during which 62 matches were played! Such is the nature of Rugby-7, allowing for major competitions in a short time.
Recall that the women's team of the Academy on the results of the first round took a confident leadership, beating all rivals. A week later, our girls repeated the result, completing the championship without defeats and received in addition to the Cup certificate for 130 thousand rubles (the prize Fund of the tournament was 1 million rubles). Note that all of their matches, the students of the Academy won the "dry."
The men's team of the Volga Academy in the first round reached the final, in which it lost to KGEU (it is actually "Dynamo-Energy"). In the second round "academicians" also passed through the group stage by a victorious March, but in the semifinal students of KSU (12:17) stood in their way. Defeat did not allow to repeat result: Andrey Polikarpov's team became the third, having overcome in the consolation final KNITU-KAI (22:10). And on the sum of performances in two rounds won "silver" and the certificate for 110 thousand rubles. We will add that the third-year student of the Academy Anna Satunina became the best player of the championship among women's teams.
