The team of the Volga sports Academy became the silver medalists of the RT universities ' Games on kickboxing, held in KSK "KAI-Olimp".
In competitions with the participation of teams of 12 universities "academicians", who delegated 12 fighters to the tournament, scored 246 points, 6 behind the winners from kgasu. Six students of the Academy reached the finals in their weight categories, three of them – sophomores Igor Caregorodcev and Timofey Jafarov, as well as 4th year student Ilmir Nurullin - won their matches. Five more "academicians" reached the semi-finals and became bronze medalists of the Spartakiad. Thus, the team of the Volga region Academy has three gold, three silver and five bronze medals.
We will note that on sports Day fights took place in a full-contact format. While the summer championship of the European Association of student sports in Zagreb kickboxing competition, for the first time included in the program, will be held in the following formats: light contact, K-1 and point fighting. According to the coach-teacher of the Volga Academy, three-time world champion and winner of the world Cup Ilnaz Saifullin, the qualifying for the tournament in Zagreb will be the Russian championship in kickboxing among students, which will be held from January 31 to February 3 in Omsk.
