"Gold" of the European championship in weightlifting, held in the Polish city of Zamosc, won the master's degree student of the Volga Academy of sports Maria Petrova. Entering into the weight category up to 75 kg, Petrova the sum of the two exercises showed the result of the best score 231 kg (snatch – 101 kg clean and jerk 130 kg), ahead of Ukrainian woman Irina Dehu in the amount raised 223 kg.
- The season as a whole can be called successful, at all starts we have the first places, - said Maria Petrova, returning to Kazan. - Maybe, somewhere there was dissatisfaction with the result, but such working moments always happen. The year was intense, the abundance of competitions, and this medal is a pleasant point. Now we will have a rest, we will decide on what starts we will bet. The strength and desire to continue eating, this is important.
But the graduate of the Volga Academy Svetlana Lipatova unlucky. At the world wrestling championship in Budapest it stopped in a step from bronze. In the semifinals, our athlete lost to the Olympic champion from Japan Risako Kawai. In a duel for "bronze" Svetlana met with another decorated athlete – world champion 2016, Chinese Jingru Drink. Following the results of fight the victory remained for the representative of China.
