This weekend, the Volga region Academy of sports and tourism hosted the first all-Russian student games of martial arts (the Volga region stage), held with the support of the Federal Agency for youth Affairs and The Russian Union of martial arts (rsbi).
  Honorary guests of the opening ceremony were Vice-rector of the Volga region Academy Ilshat Fayzullin, Vice-President of the rsbi branch in the Republic of Tatarstan Eduard Sharafiev, Chairman of the Kazan branch of rsbi Aydar Sayfutdinov, as well as Chairman of the Presidium of the Union of public figures of RT Alexander Darenkov.    In total, 329 athletes from 12 regions of the Volga region took part in the festival. On the first day they competed among themselves for the subsequent participation in semi-final and final duels which took place on October 28 in a gym of the educational case and the Badminton Center. Of the seven types of martial arts the largest number of participants gathered Sambo. It was represented at the festival by 67 students. The second most popular was the all-round karate in the direction of “full contact", which gathered 50 participants. The team of the Volga state Academy of physical culture, sports and tourism won the team competition. The second place was won by representatives of the Kazan Federal University, and the third became students of the Ulyanovsk state agrarian University. The strongest participants of the Volga region stage will go to the finals of the all-Russian student games of martial arts in Moscow.
  Within the Festival the round table with representatives of Republican Federations on seven types of single combats took place. The main theme was the problem of the development of student martial arts. The Volga region Academy of sports not accidentally became the venue of the festival of martial arts. In addition to the created conditions for the participants, the sports UNIVERSITY and the Department of martial arts of the Academy strongly contribute to the development of student sports, including martial arts.    "From the very beginning it was assumed that the participants will be declared to the competition through their universities, as the games are student - says the chief justice Viktor Kopyrin. -But universities, with the exception of those that have a sports orientation, often do not track what their students are doing. This is a serious problem, so we had to turn to the Federations. It is necessary to interest universities in tracking not only students who are talented in terms of creativity, but also those who are engaged in sports. Now our task should be to develop not only high-performance sports, but also mass sports, in which student sports play an important role. You need to be a student of martial arts seriously to the student competitions included in the General calendar plan of sport competitions.
