Viktor Demidov, Advisor to the rector of the Volga state Academy of physical culture, sports and tourism, noted 75 years. One of those who stood at the origins of the Volga Academy of sports. The other day we talked with the hero of the day.
Demidov Victor Alexandrovich, doctor of medical Sciences, Professor. He graduated from the medical faculty of the Semipalatinsk state medical Institute, postgraduate and doctoral studies in the scientific specialty of normal physiology at the Kharkiv state medical Institute. He has more than 200 scientific publications, including 5 monographs and more than 30 educational publications. In the Volga region Academy is a Professor of the Department of biomedical disciplines, lectures and conducts practical classes on the subject of human physiology.
- Viktor Alexandrovich, happy anniversary! You have been at the Volga region Academy since its Foundation. Do you feel that the University has lived with you for a whole era?
Yeah I was wondering what I have and Academy a milestone or era (laughs). But indeed, it so happened that I was among several of my colleagues was at the origins of the Academy in Kazan. All already, in General, said about how it all began. 2011, one faculty, 266 students, whom we took to classes across the city from the Universiade Village to the Olympic reserve School. I held the position of Vice-rector for academic Affairs, but because of the shortage of teachers I gave lectures and conducted practical classes. And after a couple of years passed the age limit, beyond which it is impossible to hold the post of Vice-rector. He handed over the reins to associate Professor Almaz Galimov…
- The main thing, in your opinion, is the achievement of the University for all the years, that it is based in Kazan?
- We have found our niche in the sports industry of the Republic. When the Academy was based in Naberezhnye Chelny, we were on our own. Even such issues of personnel policy were resolved with difficulty. Data on the need for specialists in the structural units of the industry in the ministries of sports, education, employment services were different. And when we moved here, it helped that the rector had experience as the first Deputy Minister of sports of the Republic of Tatarstan, he held many meetings with all interested parties, and it went. It is important that we began to develop the sports direction of the Academy, the achievements of our students help to build relationships with partners.
- Was moving to Kazan difficult for you personally?
- I had three years to be in the position of Vice-rector for academic Affairs. The decision was not easy. Long thought with his wife, daughter Victoria (today she is a fourth-year student of the medical faculty of KSMU). Decided, that need to to go. I knew everything: the educational process, scientific work, and student life... I started my career as a teacher, then was an associate Professor, head of the Department, Dean of the faculty of physical culture, Vice-rector for academic and scientific work ... I was well aware of the educational component. So, for this part in Kazan everything was on me. Plus I persuaded to move with me to Kazan Professor Yuri Boltikov, Dean of the faculty of physical culture at the Kama Academy. With him and turned! We calculated the trajectory of the educational process, contacted with other universities, learned how best, argued, came to compromises.
- And moving a whole University is a whole story!
- Yes, especially, taking into account the wording, which is not in any law. The University moved to Kazan "translation". Not liquidation or reorganization, and the translation! Nothing is unclear was. Even the Universiade is not held everywhere there was a building. We, remember, on October 24, stopped by with Boltikov in "Burevestnik", and the current educational and laboratory complex then represented a two-storey skeleton... Day discussed with architects how to transform the international information center into an educational building. On the site of the Palace of water sports at that moment there was a huge construction site – clay, dirt... Not everyone then wanted to move here from Naberezhnye Chelny. Persuaded, and someone refused. The rector played a key role in the formation of the teaching staff. I personally conducted an interview with each of them. So, exactly, he makes and until now.
- Victor Alexandrovich, today the Academy is close to the capital's "Grandas"?
- When we just started, we were very far in all respects. Now we are selected, but we must remember that the RGUFK, the national state University named after P. F. Lesgaft is our flag. There is a powerful educational and scientific base, teaching staff. We still have a lot to do. The staff decides everything. We need to work on ourselves, on theses, more publications, monographs... Yes, we have a strong material base, somewhere we are the best in the sports component. And this is the fruit of hard work, properly chosen by the University management development strategy.
- Sport has become an important part of your life?
- I would not say that sport is my life. Although I played sports when I was studying, then in the army-I served in the Navy. I played chess once participated in a session of simultaneous game of Victor Korchnoi. I lost, but he liked our game, and we talked after the session. I am a candidate master of sports in cross-country skiing and Cycling, played for the national team of the region and the Northern fleet. In Naberezhnye Chelny became interested in badminton. With the rector of the Kamsky Academy Abdulhalim Sirazetdinova Chinchinim trained together. He played well, I was in the first competition with 70 employees of the University took place in the fourth ten. And slightly while after that-became the second. But I was captured not so much by sport as by the educational process at the University, which trains specialists in the field of physical culture. The fact is that from 1977 to 1993 I worked at the pedagogical Institute, at the faculty of physical culture. He headed the Department of anatomy and physiology there. Then was Dean. By the way, my doctoral dissertation was also related to sports: the model I tested contributed to the emergence of a strong emotional tension in the subjects. And so, time passed, and I returned to this path. And it was already easy for me to get involved in the work, as I was well oriented in work programs, curricula, etc.
- That is, we can say that you are a professional who is able to build the educational process in the University, as they say, "from scratch" and "turnkey"?
- Yes (laughs)! Still, I have always been most interested in the educational and scientific aspect. Then it so happened that I began to work in a specialized sports University, where I was invited by the rector of the Kama Academy Abdulahat Chinkin, for which I was always grateful to him.
- How did this happen?
- My wife-a native of Tatarstan, when we had a daughter, decided to move to live in the Republic. I then held the post of Vice-rector for academic Affairs in one of the reputable universities. When they decided to move, I had already agreed to work in one of the universities of Kazan, even an order was issued. But called Abdulahat Sirazetdinova, suggested: "maybe us? We have a vacant position of Vice-rector for scientific work". We just returned from vacation, stopped in Chelny, walked around the Academy, the city and the head of the University we liked, decided to stay there. Moreover, it seemed to me an interesting task – to raise the scientific component of the University - which Chinkin set me.
- Don't you think that sport takes up too much space in our minds? We all watch Ovechkin, Habib, Kokorin, as if our lives depend on them?
- I'm an ardent fan myself. But for me sport is more a sphere of health. We must teach our students to train without harm to the body and ordinary people, and professional athletes. I am a physiologist of the Pavlovsk school. Academician I. p. Pavlov had a student, academician D. A. Biryukov. A student Biryukov, Fedor Petrovich Vedyaev-my supervisor for the PhD thesis and scientific consultant-for his doctoral thesis. Working in the pedagogical University at the faculty of physical culture, I realized that the volume and depth of teaching block of biomedical disciplines after medical universities in second place-physical education!
