In the educational and laboratory building of the Volga Academy of sports held a master class on Boogie-woogie Alexei and Svetlana Gavrilov-recognized masters of this direction of dance sports in Russia.
Gavrilov's successful sports career, which became the winners of many prestigious Boogie-woogie tournaments, including the world and Russian Championships, is combined with teaching activities. Participate in the filming of TV projects, thus contributing to the popularization of the Boogie-woogie.
I must say that although Boogie recently teamed up with acrobatic rock-n-roll "under the roof" of a Federation, is an independent dance sport. Moreover, Boogie-woogie is considered an alternative to acrobatic rock ' n ' roll (in the Volga region Academy since 2016 is included in the number of sports in which athletes and coaches are trained). This is more of a social pair dance, which are engaged for fun and communication. It appeared in Europe in the second half of the 1940s, and today again is rapidly gaining popularity.
In General, it is not surprising that among the participants of the master class in addition to students of the Department of theory and methodology of gymnastics (one of the areas of training which is acrobatic rock and roll), there were many who just want to learn to dance.
An impressive part of the theoretical lesson was devoted to the answers to their numerous questions. According to the capital's guests, Boogie-woogie is not a sport, and not just a dance, but an art. Since it is based on improvisation. When dancers go on stage during tournaments, they don't even know what music they will have to dance to.
"The main thing is to guess what your partner will do," Svetlana repeated many times during the master class. - We agree in advance how we will execute separate elements, but their order – continuous improvisation. It so happens that Aleksey begins to make an element that was not in the plans. My task is to adjust and get into the music."
Aleksey Gavrilov also focused the audience's attention on the creative component of Boogie-woogie:
- There are a lot of criteria for evaluating the performance: accuracy of hitting the beat, rhythm, timeliness of performance of individual elements, technique of basic shifts, harmony, complex elements (acrobatics, tracks, etc.), their uniqueness, musicality-the Best dancers bring something new to each performance, it is very interesting to look at their dances. Every performance is a show. I don't remember a single couple who danced the same thing twice. Boogie-woogie is a promising direction in dance in Russia. Now the Federation is developing a training program for children.
But to understand what a Boogie-woogie and feel like a real stylist, sitting in the hall is impossible. After communication, all went to the gym, where Gavrilov taught them a lesson of dance, conquered the world with energy and positive... Aleksey and Svetlana showed the basic elements that, I want to believe, will help the participants of the master class to look on the floor no less impressive than the heroes of the film Valery Todorovsky.
