A few days left before the start of the new school year. Volga Academy of sports meets a new set of freshmen. 70% of them will become residents of the Universiade Village during their studies. This means that the family of "academicians" living in the dormitories of the University, will be more. About how to create a comfortable climate in the homes for life, what is the advantage of student government and why teachers should be senior comrades of students told the teacher-psychologist of the house №30 Yuliya Tokranova:
- Most of the Academy students live in a hostel. They are all separated from home and family. Some of them are quite long ago, because athletes start training from 5-7 years, grow and form many personal qualities under the influence of coaches. For them, the main among educational priorities is the competitiveness. This is necessary in a competitive environment. Gradually, this quality becomes a form of psychological protection and a vector of victory, the formation of which takes years of work. But in everyday life, we often see a negative result of such a strategy. The guys outside the sports ground are separated, they have no reason to unite. Therefore, in our work we use the principle of the national team, when there is a certain task, a high goal. Under this goal the team is formed, the assets of the student organizers, who work together with us on the result. This is how we achieve collective responsibility and a common outcome. In the process, we are only consultants guiding link. This is a mobile and very modern form of interaction, which is now used by most of the organizing committees of major world events.
As a professional psychologist and conflictologist (I study for a master's degree to get a specialization), I constantly monitor people and easily "calculate" the leaders. Everyone I last year when you check into a hostel "took on a pencil" entered into an asset home and student dormitories. However, some appeared later. And it's good, it means that the environment can manifest themselves not even clear leaders. And this is to some extent a positive assessment of our work.
Of the 400 residents of the 30th house 10-15% are very active. For me, they are a constant source of joy and inspiration, but at the same time a possible risk zone. They need more than the others. They have enough energy for study, work, training, communication and compliance with the regime of residence. A person with an active life position or we will do business, or someone else. Alternatives that use the thesis-to you are unfair, you deserve more – in our society enough. At this age, children more than ever need home warmth, a cozy protected house, which you want to return to. We try to become such a home for them during their studies. Our approach: you can do more because you are unique! And together with other students and teachers of the University help a person to discover and realize this uniqueness.
Student government is a huge force. An asset is able to model a living environment very successfully if given a certain degree of freedom. We are in a constant dialogue with the guys, but we do not interfere in the actions of the asset, giving the opportunity to realize our ideas, projects, come up with interesting activities inside the house. Since last year, several events proposed and implemented by the student hostel asset have grown to the level of University-wide. Their organizers have received the necessary skills and well-deserved authority. The teacher in this situation, it is important to remain an assistant, not to pull the blanket over. Everyone needs to learn something of their own in this process, and the teacher is no exception.
Students are well aware that we take the toughest position on a number of issues. This is the learning process, discipline and compliance with the rules of residence. Here, as they say, without Amateur performance. The educational process at the University is the most important. Children enter the Academy to study and diploma at the output should be confirmed by the quality of their knowledge. At the same time, I believe that the approach of encouraging students to work in the field without reducing the attendance of lectures is absolutely correct and relevant for our time. This is not only money for them, but also a huge experience in the future profession, the ability to correctly measure the reality with the level of their own claims in further employment.
Less than 1% of non-socialized students remain in the Academy's program of adaptation of first-year students to winter. This is quite a complex contingent of people who are always present in society and the academic environment is no exception. We work with these guys individually. For the majority, it is important to instill a University culture, to introduce a student to the Academy as a large and powerful sports and educational Corporation. This, incidentally, immediately affects the quality of the educational process. Cooperation is the most effective tool for the inclusion of students in the life of the University and the only way to conduct a quality educational process. In the house in this work in addition to me included the students themselves, the administration, the head of the house, the staff of the watch, the student security service, teachers, curators, Dean. All these people are engaged in conflict prevention. And I can say with confidence that no negative situation passes us by.
Very help Tutors-senior students. They are for freshmen immediately become "their" and beginners "warm" at the common table, a song with a guitar and tea, which has become a good tradition after the events in the house. We also follow the rule: praise in public, criticize in private. So together we create a family atmosphere, where teachers are not "fighters of the invisible front", but older comrades who are ready to help and support. This is important because time and society are different, we must take this into account.
Our main task is to make the Academy students realize as early as possible that being in a University environment is their advantage. We realized that an educated person is a special status of people who can be different for the better. Young people today are characterized by legal nihilism. The guys know their rights well and are able to defend them without fear. But in critical situations, they forget that they are graduates of higher education and this obliges to a certain behavior. Unfortunately, the status of a highly educated person in the country as a whole is leveled and we have to remind students that a person receiving higher education under any circumstances can not fall to the level of the crowd. This is a necessary element of professional orientation, the question of attitude to the individual. I address to students on You, and they understand that I respect them. Bad can be deed, but not people. Therefore, for me they are all children living on the principle: "the Academy is my home, my family." At the heart of this approach are the ideas of Makarenko, experiencing today's Renaissance. Anton Semyonovich with his pedagogical principles brings us back to the beginning of the last century, when the communes were created for street children. Today, his works are used to work with children in difficult life situations, and we increasingly have to work with Internet street children. Today's students live in virtual reality. They know very little about themselves, do not follow their talents and abilities. Hence later grows the lack of demand in the profession, disorder in personal life. A hundred years ago Makarenko returned children from the street, we have to return them to real life from social networks.
