Today in Kazan was visited by five-time Olympic champion and synchronised swimmer Svetlana Romashina. She held a master class for 150 young students of Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny sports schools in the pool of the sports complex "Olympiets". Recall that Romashina is a graduate student of the Volga region Academy of sports and tourism, but in November 2018, she became a mother and is now on academic leave.
According to Svetlana Romashina, she is not yet ready to officially announce the date of return to the sport, as well as the resumption of studies.
- I'm not announcing a new career yet. God willing, everything will turn out, will be announced in early September. Everything will be decided at the end of the summer, you need to find a babysitter for the child... it is very difficult to break away - I'm still a nursing mother. But there is a desire to return to sport…
Nevertheless, Svetlana found an opportunity to come to Kazan for a short time to communicate with young pupils of local youth schools. According to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Federation of synchronized swimming of the RT, Deputy of the state Duma, coordinator of the project " Children's sport "in the RT Olga Pavlova, this visit was the first in the framework of the participation of the athletes in the project"Children's sport".
The Olympic champion was not limited to hugs, an autograph session and answers to the questions of her little enthusiastic fans. One of the most titled sportswomen of Russia held several training sessions in water (which took a total of two hours). And she, as she admitted, received pleasure from the master class.
- It's nice that the children have an interest. Not always working with older children you can see they have a sincere desire. Sparkle in the eyes I wanted to hold this master class myself, I came to Kazan, and I liked it very much. As a child, I did not have the opportunity to communicate with the Olympic Champions, synchronized swimming was just developing. I hope this meeting will help the girls.
But for postgraduate Affairs Romashina will appear in Kazan not soon.
- At first I thought that they would have time to combine studies with motherhood. But to be honest, I realized that everything is not so simple, and decided that it is better to take the "academic" and return to school later. When? After the New year I will think ... I have once relied on their strength, but quickly realized that mom - it's still the job!
- What about the plans for joint educational projects with the Academy?
 It's all good. But as for the timing, I'm not looking that far. There are plans, we talked about them with the rector of the Academy, because one of the sports facilities of the University - the Palace of water sports - the main object of the Republic for the development of synchronized swimming. But for now, the main thing for me is to return to training, it is paramount.
