2012 Olympic champion in high jump Anna Chicherova visited Volga Region University. The world and European champion, eight-time Russian champion was invited to Kazan as an honorary guest at the All-Russian athletics competition in memory of the Honored Coach of Russia Yuri Krasilnikov.

First Vice-Rector Azat Sharapov, Vice-Rector for Administrative Work, Social Development and Youth Policy Natalya Grechannikova and Head of the Department for Organizational and Administrative Work Daria Seibert acted as tour guides around the building of the university’s educational and laboratory building.

Traditionally, guests were shown the cinema hall and standard auditoriums of the university, the university’s sports halls and the adaptive physical education hall, the Universiade Museum, a concert hall, a cyber hall and much more. In addition, Anna Chicherova and accompanying persons were introduced to the director of the Institute of Sports, Robert Bikmukhametov, and the head of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Athletics and Rowing Sports named after Georgy Tsyganov, Sergei Pavlov. At the end of the excursion, Azat Sharapov spoke in more detail about the university in figures based on the results of work over the past years.

“I didn’t even know that there was such a luxurious sports university in Kazan, with such excellent conditions not only for studying, but also for living. It is important that you focus not only on studies and sports, you develop in other directions, this is great,” summed up Anna Chicherova.
