The most anticipated event of the year in the world of martial arts - the Russian WKF Karate Championship - has come to an end in Orel. The competition was held at the GRINN tourist multifunctional complex and gathered more than 300 athletes from 44 regions of Russia on the tatami. During several days, from 17 to 21 August, the participants competed in various categories and types of karate.
A silver medal at the end of the championship was added to the piggy bank of achievements of the third year student Ilya Savin. He competed in the weight category up to 60kg. The main rival of Ilya became the honoured master of sports, the champion of Europe and the prize-winner of the world championship Evgeny Plakhutin. The athlete noted that the competition was held at a very high level, and the team of the Republic of Tatarstan reached two finals for the first time. Ilya thanked his coach Iskander Shagin, who contributed to the excellent results of the athletes.
Kamilla Bikmullina, a second-year student who competed in the weight category up to 68kg, also won the championship. Before the championship, Kamilla had several preparatory training camps. The first one was with her own team, the second - in Belarus as a member of the Russian national team, where athletes were preparing and participating in the games of CIS countries. The athlete admitted that the two main starts were difficult to cope with, but the result was worth it - the third place on the podium and the deserved status of one of the three best athletes at the end of the championship.
"I would like, of course, a better result, so we will do work on mistakes and try to continue. As they say - alga!", - wished Kamilla after the end of the competition.
