Dmitry Khvostikov, Chairman of the Kazan Executive Committee's Committee for Children and Youth Affairs, who took office in November, gained insight into the extracurricular student life at Volga Region University. University staff, led by Natalia Grechannikova, Vice Rector for Administrative Work, Social Development, and Youth Policy, gave him a tour, showing him the main student attractions.
Dmitry Khvostikov visited the concert hall, learning about the university's cultural and creative activities, including its participation in and hosting of festivals at various levels. He spoke with representatives of the student media center and the "Winged Bars" student sports club, who shared the activities and achievements of their associations. He also met with the university's student council and its chairman, Artem Andriyanov, during a short meeting.
Natalia Grechannikova also showed off the modern internal infrastructure of the academic and laboratory building: classrooms, the Academic Council Hall, the eSports club office, and the Universiade Museum, where the guest was given a short educational tour. She also introduced the guests to the activities of the Social and Educational Work Department. The meeting concluded with a screening of videos about the university's history, achievements, and facilities.
"I'm amazed by the scale of the university, the number of its facilities, and the sporting events it hosts. This is a significant achievement for me, as I'm a sports enthusiast myself, and I can say that Volga Region University is a model for our country in terms of how to engage students in sports.
We certainly plan to support the university in sports and develop its cultural program. I believe that students should be well-rounded and strive to achieve success not only in sports but also in their creative endeavors," emphasized Dmitry Khvostikov.
