The winners and runners-up of the II Spartakiade for the Rector's Cup of Volga Region University were honoured at the award ceremony. 
Throughout the academic year, the staff and teaching staff competed at the university facilities in eight sports: chess, table tennis, floor curling, cross-country skiing, badminton, volleyball, swimming and track and field cross. 
Nine teams - more than 150 staff and teachers - took part.

In the athletics cross-country race the strongest were the representatives of the profile department - teacher Edviga Isanaeva and associate professor Artyom Mastrov. 
The winners in the swimming pool were the sports instructors of the educational and sports complex ‘Aquatics Palace’ - Alina Kolevatova and Dmitry Polyakov. 

‘Spartakiada is a holiday! I am glad that here you can test your abilities, because it is best to evaluate your form during competition", - shared Alina Kolevatova. 

Representatives of the profile department - Associate Professor Olga Ageyeva and Senior Lecturer Rustam Faizrakhmanov - were the strongest in ski racing. 
In the floor curling competition, the team of the Vice-Rector for Economic Activities won, and ‘Institute of Sport - 1’ won on the volleyball court. According to the results of the team standings, the team of ‘Institute of Sports - 2’ won. 

I thank everyone who found time for sport and physical education in their busy work schedules,’ said Natalya Grechannikova, Vice-Rector for Administration, Social Development and Youth Policy. - Our staff and faculty prove every day that a healthy body is a healthy spirit, and informal socialising during competitions contributes to team building’.
