The college of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism will open a new speciality - Information Systems and Programming - this year.

It is planned to open one group (on the basis of basic general education) with the capacity of 30 students. Education will be carried out on an extra-budgetary basis. The term of education will be 3 years and 10 months.

Currently, the college provides training in the specialities "Physical Education", "Adaptive Physical Education", "Tourism and Hospitality", profession "Waiter and Bartender".

The college is sure that the new direction of training will be in demand, as IT-specialists are needed in all sectors of the economy.

Alexander Vasilets, head of the college's main professional educational programme "Information Systems and Programming", noted that the opening of the new area of study is the next stage of the university's development in the field of digitalisation.

According to him, the legacy of the Games of the Future - the Fijtal Sports Development Centre and the Fijtal Sports Laboratory, which appeared at the university, will also be used in the training of specialists.

"Thus, to date, the university has created all the necessary infrastructure and ecosystem for the full-scale development of IT specialists, including in fijital sports as an independent direction," Oleksandr Vasilets said.
