Students of the Volga Region University of Sports became winners of the Brain Ring Cup at the II Student Congress - the sports and creative forum “Land of Winners”, which was held at the Volgograd State Academy of Physical Culture.
The forum was timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi troops by Soviet troops in the Battle of Stalingrad and the 81st anniversary of the Red Army's counteroffensive at Stalingrad on November 19, 1942.
140 students and teachers from 11 sports universities in Russia took part in its work - Khabarovsk, Omsk, Chelyabinsk, Perm Territory, Moscow, Voronezh, Smolensk, Kazan and Volgograd.
The team of the Volga Region Sports University was represented at the congress by the Deputy Director of the Institute of Physical Culture for educational work, Alexander Uvakin, and 11 university students from 1st to 4th year.
Over the course of several days, students participated in various events, including games, discussed joint plans for civic and patriotic work, etc.
The result of the forum was the creation and presentation of an e-book-memory “I live in the time of heroes. Country of victors: war heroes - sports heroes,” which became the work of working groups from Russian sports universities. It includes stories of USSR athletes who accomplished feats during the Great Patriotic War.
