The Volga Region University sambo team became the absolute champion of the team standings. Today, 27 October, the All-Russian tournament among students "Cup of the Student Sambo League" ended at one of the university facilities - Kazan Tennis Academy.
The competition gathered almost 200 athletes from 34 universities of the country. Wrestlers determined the best in combat and sport sambo, in seven weight categories each. The Volga Region University of Sport and Tourism was represented by 21 sambo wrestlers, one person in each weight category, in all types of wrestling.
According to the results of the competition, the students of the university won 16 medals in the individual championship.
Tatyana Fedorova (50 kg), Anastasia Ivanova (59 kg), Vadim Kupriyanov (71 kg), Alexander Svintsov (combat sambo, 64 kg) climbed to the top step of the podium.
In the team standings, the three Volga Region University teams were the best in sport sambo among girls and boys, and in combat sambo among boys.
"This tournament was held in Kazan for the first time, all the more pleasant that it was so successful for our team. The guys showed good results, but there is still room for improvement. We will work further", - said the coach of the team, head of the department of theory and methodology of martial arts Yuri Boltikov.
