The Volga Region University Gymnastics Centre hosted the Volga Region artistic gymnastics competition. Young athletes from six to thirteen years old competed in the tournament.
148 gymnasts from Ulyanovsk, Penza, Chistopol, Yoshkar-Ola, Nizhnekamsk and Kazan fought for victory. Athletes of the Integrated Sports School of the Volga Region University won the bronze medal among boys and became the second among girls in the team championship. Medals were also won in individual all-around events.
Gymnasts of the Integrated Sports School won 19 gold, 29 silver and 26 bronze medals.
‘The Volga Region is the first gymnastics competition with the participation of nonresident athletes. Before that, we only held championships among our students. We hope that the tournament will become traditional and will be held annually. There are seven sports in our sports school, and we plan to hold major competitions in each of them,’ said Lyudmila Teplova, Director of the Comprehensive Sports School of Volga Region University.
