Another day in Yekaterinburg - at the International University Sports Festival - ended successfully for the Volga Region University team.
"Gold" of the doubles tennis competition was won by Egor Agafonov and Dmitry Dolzhenkov, who beat representatives of the Russian University of Sport with the score 6-1, 4-6, 10-5.
Regina Galiakhmetova and Pavel Monich won silver in the finals of the mixed badminton tournament, losing to the tournament favourites - athletes from Beijing Sports University Lan Zheng and Qiuyue Fan. In the women's and men's badminton doubles, representatives of Volga Region University also managed to win bronze medals.
Tatyana Fedorova won silver in the sambo tournament in the weight category up to 50kg in the final bout with a representative of the Russian Professional and Pedagogical University.
In the swimming pool, two bronze medals at once: in the 1500 freestyle, Angelina Kornilova took third place, and in the 4x100 freestyle relay, the women's team, including Irina Krasilnikova, Dina Kiramova, Irina Zlobina, Angelina Kornilova, as well as morning swimmers Ekaterina Maisheva and Svetlana Bogomolova.
"It was a hard day, fatigue was already felt, but I tried to win the opportunity to get on the top step of the podium, - shared Angelina Kornilova. - It's the first time I participate in such big competitions with foreign athletes. Swimming with the strongest, watching worthy competitors and improving personal results is a huge and valuable experience. And much of this has become possible thanks to our coach Dmitry Drozhetsky and the support of Volga Region University".
