An incredibly warm, New Year's Eve meeting of the Academic Council was held today - 28 December at the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Traditionally, the meeting began with the presentation of departmental awards - thanks from the hands of the rector of the university Rafis Burganov received honourable mentions. So the certificate of honour of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation for services in the sphere of physical culture and sports and in connection with celebration of 100 anniversary from the date of formation of the state body of management in the sphere of physical culture and sports was awarded to the director of USK "Burevestnik" Marat Salikhov and the director of the Institute of extramural education Oleg Solomakhin.

Honorary Diploma of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation for services in the field of physical culture and sport and in connection with the jubilee date was awarded to Vladimir Burtsev, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Culture and Sport.

The gratitude of the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation for a significant contribution to the development of the field of physical culture and sports and in connection with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the formation of the state governing body in the field of physical culture and sports from the hands of the rector was awarded to the vice-rector for scientific work and international activities Andrey Nazarenko, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Digital Transformation Adeliya Pavlova, Head of the Accounting and Financial Control Department Gulgena Mukhamedkarimova, Director of the Tennis Academy USC Vitaly Afanasyev, Director of the Zilant Ice Palace Anatoly Zindeev, Director of the Center for Rowing Sports Andrey Feoktistov, Director of the Institute of Additional education Elvira Rumyantseva, head of the residential complex Ksenia Zubkova, deputy head of the medical and sanitary unit of the Research Institute of Physical Culture and Sports Rustam Yakubov.

Ramil Valeev, Deputy Director for General Affairs of the Aquatics Palace training and sports complex, and Gulnaz Khairutdinova, Head of the Marketing and Sales Department, were awarded a letter of commendation from the Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation for their significant contribution to the development of physical culture and sports.

Marat Galyautdinov, Associate Professor of the Department of Information Systems, Technologies and Cybersports, was awarded the badge "Excellent Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan" for his fruitful work on the development of physical culture and sports in the Republic of Tatarstan and in connection with the anniversary date.

The Rector awarded Alik Nikolaev, Head of the Legal Department, and Yulia Shabalina, Associate Professor of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines, for many years of fruitful work on the development of physical culture and sports in the Republic of Tatarstan, with an Acknowledgement from the Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Within the framework of the meeting it was announced that Nikolay Gerasimov (supervisor: Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Dmitry Fonarev); Ilya Zemlenukhin (supervisor: Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Firuza Zotova) and Igor Skiba (supervisor: Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Igor Konovalov) were awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences. 
Aydar Zinnatnurov, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Combat Sports, was also awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in the speciality "Theory and Methodology of Sports".

The agenda of the meeting included the approval of dissertation research topics of the applicants, as well as presentations on the results of work for the year. In particular, Vladimir Suetin, Head of the Department of Information Technologies told about the development of the electronic information educational environment of the Volga Region University. 
Albina Yuldasheva, Acting Head of the Student Cultural Centre, spoke about the results and prospects of the Student Cultural Centre.

The event ended with congratulations on the coming New Year. On behalf of all students of the university, Lenar Galiev, Chairman of the Student Council, addressed the Rector and the Academic Council. He sincerely thanked the management and teaching staff for the support and the conditions and opportunities created for students. 
"We see everything that you do for us and certainly appreciate it," Lenar Galiev emphasised.

Also, on behalf of students and teachers members of the Academic Council of the university thanked for the support in all endeavours and congratulated with the New Year the Director of the Institute of Physical Culture Iskander Galeev and the Director of the International Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism Reseda Khadiullina.

Rector of the university Rafis Burganov, in turn, noted that all the achievements, with which the university welcomes the New Year, are the result of joint labour.
