Athletes of different specializations develop unique genetic profiles during training, said specialists from the Volga Region University Research Institute.
Thus, genes responsible for lipid metabolism and smooth muscle are activated in hockey players, in skiers – for the systemic regulation of inflammation, and in football players and track and field athletes – for the structural integrity of muscles. This proves that the body adapts differently to a specific type of load.
The scientists emphasized that by understanding the strengths of an athlete at the genetic level, coaches will be able to more accurately select the volume and intensity of loads, helping to personalize the training process.
