Russian Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin inspected the infrastructure of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture and Sport as part of his working visit to Kazan. The minister was given a tour of the university's facilities by the Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov and Rector of the university Rafis Burganov.
"The Volga Region University is one of the flagships of education in the sports sphere. There are many opportunities for university students and athletes in addition to academic classes, the infrastructure and research base contribute to this. All this provides an opportunity to train quality personnel for the sphere of sports and physical culture, based on advanced technologies and domestic developments," said Minister Oleg Matytsin.
Oleg Matytsin got acquainted with the capabilities of the Research Institute of the University, visited the laboratories of sports statistics and analytics, sports nutrition and anthropology, sports physiology, sports genetics and molecular physiology, complex monitoring of sports facilities, equipment, equipment and materials, psychophysiology of sports and biomechanics of sports. In 2023, the research institute conducted more than 6000 examinations and 2000 in-depth medical examinations, and on a permanent basis provides scientific and methodological support to athletes of the national teams of Russia and the Republic of Tatarstan, sports clubs by sports.
The head of the federal agency also visited the Centre for the Development of Human Resources Potential of the Tourism Industry. The Centre was established within the framework of the federal project "Improving Management in Tourism" of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality Industry" initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The main activity of the centre is additional professional education of specialists in the field of tourism under a special programme of the Volga Region University "Management of development of tourist territories: project approach". Since its opening, the centre has trained representatives of the Samara region, the Republics of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, and in 2024 it is planned to hold 7 courses for students from 21 regions of Russia.
A fijital centre is being built on the territory of the university, which is planned to be opened on the eve of the first ever international tournament in fijital disciplines "Future Games". The delegation toured the premises of the centre under construction and checked the readiness status of the facility.
