The First Volga Region Symposium on Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation opened today at the Ak Bars Arena stadium.
It was attended by Rector of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism Rafis Burganov and Vice-Rector for Research and International Activities Andrey Nazarenko, as well as employees of the Research Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of the university.
Making welcoming remarks, Rafis Burganov noted that modern sport places increased demands on high-quality and effective scientific-methodological and medical-biological support of athletes' training with the creation of new effective technologies, methods and programmes.
‘Sports doctors, scientists and coaches should be informed about the available modern research and methods in sports medicine, genetics, physiology, nutritional science and pharmacology, involving a different approach to the training and rehabilitation process of athletes,’ the rector said.
Let us recall that in 2021, on the basis of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, a research institute of physical culture and sports was created, consisting of 7 laboratories and a medical and sanitary unit, the main tasks of which are scientific, methodological and medical-biological support of training and rehabilitation process of athletes, in-depth and current medical examination, treatment, preventive and rehabilitation measures, analytical studies for sports teams and athletes.
Andrey Nazarenko's report was dedicated to medical and biological support and improvement of athletes' training. He spoke about new methods, programs and an integrated approach to assessing the state of health, physical development, functional reserves of the body, genetic predisposition and diet of athletes, used by researchers and sports doctors of the Research Institute of Physical Culture in the course of scientific, methodological and medical-biological support for the training of athletes .
The First Volga Region Symposium on Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation will be held tomorrow.
It is aimed at solving topical problems and conducting scientific research on sports medicine and rehabilitation, searching for new solutions in scientific, methodological and medical and biological support of athletes' training, as well as improving the qualifications of specialists working with athletes in different regions of Russia and the CIS.
Leading specialists from Russia and the Republic of Tatarstan will take part in the scientific and practical programme of the event.
