The year 2024 has been declared the Year of Family in our country. Within the walls of the Volga Region University of Sport and Tourism, over the fifty-year history of its existence, a lot of bright dynasties have been formed, and we invite you to get acquainted with them in the new rubric "Generations of the Volga Region".

Today we will learn about the life of the Chernyaev family. Alexander Chernyaev is a professor of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Athletics and Rowing Sports named after Georgy Tsyganov, a candidate of pedagogical sciences, a sports judge of the second category in athletics and the author of 150 scientific works.
His fate is closely intertwined with the Volga Region University of Sport - he spent forty-seven years of his life in the university, moving with it to different cities in the years of development and formation.

Later his daughters Olga and Ekaterina followed in their father's footsteps. Each in her own way. As part of the column, we invited Alexander Chernyaev and his daughters to answer a few questions to find out more about their attitude to sports, teaching and, of course, family.

Relationship with the Volga Region University - what are they like?
Alexander Chernyaev: I graduated from the Volgograd Institute of Physical Culture, a branch of which was opened in Kazan in 1974. In 1977 I moved to Kazan when I was invited to teach at the Athletics Department. At first I was sure that I came to teaching for a short time - by distribution after finishing my studies, but I stayed for forty-seven years. The work dragged on - it was interesting to work with students. Later they became participants and medallists of the Olympic Games. Together with the university, my family and I moved first to Naberezhnye Chelny and then back to Kazan. The conditions then and now are very different. Today students have much more opportunities and incentives for scientific and sports activities. Such progress is very pleasing.
