Following the Iranian team, the Cuban team came to Kazan for a training event. The Cuban team travelled to Kazan for training immediately after the Vladivostok regatta and two more athletes arrived after the World Championship. The training event is held on the basis of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.
10 athletes came to the training camp, including Caribbean Games champions Andrew Barnett Laguna, Leduar Suarez Sanjul, Roberto Carlos Paz Sanchez, Ana Laura Jimenez Bueno, participants of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Caribbean Games champions Milena Venega Cancio and Jariulvis Cobas Garcia, World Championship participants Reidy Cardona Blanco and Carlos Andriel Ajet Jauregui.
Together with the national team, Angel Garcia, President of the Rowing Federation of the Republic of Cuba, came to follow the training process.
"The aim of our training camp is to achieve an optimal level of training for the main Cuban national team athletes, and our task is to improve the technical, physical and psychological performance of the team. We chose Russia because of the excellent training conditions offered to us in Kazan at one of the facilities of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism - the Rowing Centre: boats, a hotel near the canal, comfortable rooms, food and hydration, relaxation and good attitude of the staff, air temperature that allows for long training sessions," said Angel Garcia. - We are preparing to participate in the Pan American Games, which will be held in Santiago de Chile from 21 to 25 October. It is very important for us," said Angel Garcia.
Let us remind you that in August the Iranian national rowing team was at the Rowing Sports Centre of the Volga Region University for a training camp. The athletes came to Russia for the final stage of preparation for the Asian Games - international competitions under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia, which are held these days in China. There were nine athletes at the training camp in Kazan, including participants of the Olympic Games and World Championships.
