Students of the Volga Region University brought home four medals from the Russian U-24 Sambo Championship.
More than 400 athletes from all over the country gathered for the competition in Kstovo.
At stake in the discipline of sports sambo were tickets to participate in the BRICS Games, which will be held this summer in Kazan.

The winners in their weight categories were Kirill Bazhin (weight - 64kg) and Daniil Orlov (w/cat - 79kg).
“Bronze” was won by Anastasia Ivanova (w/cat - 59kg) and Tatyana Fedorova (w/cat - 50kg).

As the President of the All-Russian Sambo Federation Sergei Eliseev noted, the senior coaching staff decided to form a team for the BRICS Games specifically from this competition.
“We want to give young athletes the opportunity to gain international competitive experience. It was this age that last year competed at the II Games of the CIS countries and showed itself with dignity. The BRICS Sambo Games will bring together athletes from more than ten countries, the competitions will be held at the highest level,” noted Sergei Eliseev.
