The Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports signed a memorandum of co-operation.
The document envisages academic exchange of teachers for lectures, as well as students and postgraduates for training and internships. In addition, it is planned to implement joint research projects, participate in scientific and educational conferences, seminars and sports meetings in various sports.
According to Andrey Nazarenko, Vice-Rector for Research and International Activities of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, the signing of the memorandum will give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations between the universities.
"International co-operation in educational, scientific, educational and sports activities between universities will expand, as well as opportunities for the introduction of new methods and developments," Nazarenko said.
The Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports has three faculties and 13 departments, with 8 specialities. The university trains coaches in 46 sports on the basis of specialised lessons. Student-athletes of the institute perform at world championships, international competitions at a high level, winning prizes. There are many athletes among the graduates and students of the institute whose names are written in golden letters in the history of Turkmen sports.
