Gymnasts competed in individual disciplines at the Russia-China International Competition, which was held at the Gymnastics Centre, one of the facilities of the Volga Region University of Sport and Tourism.

In the girls' event, Russia's Anna Kalmykova won the gold medal in both events of the day's programme - balance beam and floor exercise. Guests from China YU Hanyue and CHEN Feng took the second and third places on balance beam.
On floor exercise, Lyudmila Roshchina (Russia) won silver and YU Hanyue took bronze.

JI Xinghui of China was the best in the junior vault event, Russia's Arseny Dukhno came second and WANG Chengcheng of China third.
In parallel bars Arseny Dukhno (Russia) won the competition, with JI Xinghui and YANG Lanbin taking second and third places respectively.
In the competition on the horizontal bar, the best was Alexander Vasiliev, followed by Matvey Akinshin (both Russia), with YANG Lanbin in third place.

Valentina Rodionenko, the senior coach of the Russian national gymnastics team, said that the goal of the competition was to see in what direction Chinese gymnastics is moving.
"We haven't travelled anywhere for almost two years and I would like to see what they are like, to see how we look like against their background, whether we are going in the right direction," Valentina Rodionenko admitted.

"Great organisation of the competition, I am very pleased with the conduct. There is not even a reason to say that something didn't work out," said the head coach of the Russian national team. - As for the results of the performance, I realised that the Chinese delegation clearly did not have enough time to adapt - after almost a day's flight and a change of time zone, they started to recover only at the end of the competition. Our girls were on the level, but the guys did not fulfil everything that was planned. We will draw conclusions. We are tired, four days of competition is still difficult. But one should be able to get together in any conditions, and it is a good experience for them as well".

It should be noted that students and teachers of Volga Region University took part in the organisation of the competition, the main judge of the competition was Lyubov Botova, Head of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Gymnastics.
