Students were awarded personal scholarships of the Mayor of Kazan at Kazan City Hall today. Postgraduates and students were rewarded for their research work in the fields of housing and utilities, construction, transport, digital and information technologies, medicine, architecture, culture, economics, sports, tourism, etc. Young pupils of children's music, art and sports schools were also honoured. A total of 76 people received awards, they were personally presented by the head of the city Ilsur Metshin.
"The competition for personal scholarships of the Mayor of Kazan is gaining more and more momentum every year, it is important for us to support talented young people in their creative search and help them in theoretical and practical research," said Ilsur Metshin.
In Russia, 2023 was declared the Year of Teacher and Mentor, so the ceremony honoured people who helped young talents. "The profession of a teacher is one of the most noble. You teach, educate, inspire, shape the future of our country, republic and city. Today in this hall are the intellectual, creative and sporting hope of Kazan, and their mentors are those who can and should be orientated to, from whom you should take an example of dedication to the chosen cause," the Mayor addressed the participants of the ceremony.
The competition, which will be 30 years old next year, received 237 applications from undergraduate and postgraduate students. A total of 102 people passed to the in-person stage. They were evaluated by a commission of 23 experts. 16 postgraduates and clinical residents will receive scholarships of 50 thousand rubles, 20 university students and members of youth public associations - 35 thousand rubles each, two students of professional educational institutions - 20 thousand rubles each.
The winners of previous years came to congratulate the owners of scholarships of 2023. Diana Guryanova and Elizaveta Noskova together with Sofia Galkina, who became a scholarship winner this year, performed the song "Bishek zhyry" as part of the creative trio "Khasite". All girls are students of the children's music school No.7 named after Z.V.Habibullin.
Scholarships were awarded for excellent studies and creative achievements, success in research and development activities, for sports achievements, as well as postgraduate students were encouraged by a special scholarship of the Mayor of Kazan.
Yulia Bartova, a 4th year student of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, was awarded for excellent studies and success in research activities. Her scientific supervisor is candidate of biological sciences, associate professor, director of the Research Institute of Physical Culture and Sport Alexey Zverev.
"Talent requires great perseverance, and you, dear scholarship holders, have proved that our city has the most gifted minds. Kazan, as a centre of youth development, is a flagship of interesting and useful initiatives for the whole of our republic," the head of the city stressed.
At the end of the ceremony, Ilsur Metshin congratulated everyone on the coming New Year, wishing them great success in their research and creative endeavours. The head of the city separately thanked the parents who support their children and help them in self-development.
