The International Diving Competition “Rais Cup of the Republic of Tatarstan” started today in Kazan. The tournament, traditionally, takes place within the walls of the Aquatic Sports Palace according to the rules of World Aquatics.
The opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by the President of the Russian Diving Federation Stanislav Druzhinin, First Deputy Minister of Sports of Tatarstan Khalil Shaikhutdinov, Rector of the Volga Region University of Sports Rafis Burganov, President of the Diving Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan Efim Klimov.
Welcoming the participants and guests of the competition, Stanislav Druzhinin noted:
“The Rais Cup of the Republic of Tatarstan is already a traditional tournament for the Diving Federation. I am glad that the Cup is open to our international colleagues and this year a team from the Republic of Belarus came to us. Every athlete here has the opportunity to show and prove themselves. I wish all participants a bright tournament!”
This year, about 100 athletes from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Elektrostal, Penza, Chelyabinsk region, as well as Minsk (Republic of Belarus) came to the capital of Tatarstan to participate. They will compete for awards in individual and synchronized springboard (1.3 meters) and platform diving (5, 7.5 and 10 meters). Juniors and junior girls in the age category from 14-18 years old, as well as winners and prize-winners of the Russian Championship 12-13 years old, are allowed to participate.
