The October "Healthy Wednesday" took place, which included educational and sports events aimed at strengthening and supporting the body in the autumn days.

In the educational and sports complex "Burevestnik", the morning began with the implementation of the GTO swimming standards by the faculty and staff of the Volga Region.

‘Eleven people volunteered to tackle the 50 metres and could choose any technique - there were no restrictions on swimming style. Everyone showed a good result. In order to receive a gold TRP badge, it is necessary to meet the swimming standard and all participants were able to do it according to their age levels,’ said Gulfiya Gabdulkhaerova, Head of the Testing Centre of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex TRP at Povolzhsky University.

Ahead of the start of full-time study, Iskander Galeyev, Director of the Institute of Physical Culture, held a meeting with group supervisors to discuss work with students at the beginning of November and support measures for young families.

Thanks to the subsequent training session ‘Effective Interaction’, students learnt techniques to improve communication.

‘The training is aimed at activists of Povolzhsky. I believe that at the beginning of the academic year it is useful to develop communication skills and learn new techniques that will help in communicating with students, as well as in professional activities when working with children,’ said the author and facilitator of the training - Volga University psychologist Alexander Zaibert.

The most outstanding event of the Healthy Environment was the III Rector's Cup Spartakiade among faculty and staff in volleyball, which was held in the sports hall of the teaching and laboratory building. Five teams took part in the competition.

The strongest team was the team of Professor Igor Konovalov, the ‘silver’ won the team of Vice-Rector for Administration, Social Development and Youth Policy Natalia Grechannikova, and the third place was won by the team of Associate Professor Lyubov Botova.

‘The tournament left positive impressions. All the teams were worthy - it was difficult to play with each team, but the main battle unfolded in the decisive match,’ said Karina Pisanaya, senior lecturer of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Volleyball and Basketball.
