The sixth competition day at the International University Sports Festival has come to an end. The Volga Region University team won three medals.
Alexander Stepanov, the current Russian record holder at this distance, was the best in the 800 metre freestyle swimming pool.
In boxing, representatives of Volga Region University managed to win two bronze medals at once. First, Svetlana Romanova, who competed in the 50kg weight category, climbed to the third step of the podium, and a little later her result was repeated by Iskander Karazhanov in the 80kg weight category.
"In general, the fight went well. I gave my best, there were no complaints from the coaching staff. The victory was ours, but unfortunately the judges decided otherwise," commented Svetlana Romanova. - The festival itself is going very well, the organisation is at a high level and we athletes are welcomed very warmly. But we are not planning to relax - we are working on our mistakes and moving on!
