In 2023, the facilities of the Volga University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism will be updated with new equipment, and the dormitory is expected to be overhauled. The announcement was made by Rafis Burganov, the rector of the university, at a meeting of the Russian Ministry of Sport's Commission for Analysis of the Effectiveness of Federal State Budgetary Institutions Under the Ministry's authority. Today the University Rector made his report on the University activity in 2022. The meeting was chaired by First Deputy Minister of Sport of Russia Azat Kadyrov.

According to Rafis Burganov, in 2022 the Volga Region State University fulfilled the state task on higher education programs, postgraduate programs for scientific and pedagogical staff and programs of additional professional education. Last year, as part of the state assignment, two research works were completed.

The rector of the Volga Region University also said that the university annually hosts various events at international, national and regional levels, and the number of events is growing every year. For instance, over 350 events were held with over 83,000 participants in 2022.

New equipment has been purchased for the university's facilities, including an electronic judging and timekeeping system for the Aquatics Palace and a timekeeping system and an automatic start system for canoeing at the Federal Centre for Rowing and Canoeing.

"Reconstruction of the rowing simulators at the Federal Rowing Centre is being done using federal funds in the amount of 6.9 million roubles. The work is to be completed by the end of this year. Renovation of dormitories in the amount of 16.6 million roubles will also be carried out this year," said Rafis Burganov, rector of the sports university.
