Today, February 6, the Volga Region Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships will begin. The competitions will last until February 10.

The competition will take place at the Gymnastics Centre, one of the facilities of Volga Region University. The tournament will feature more than 60 gymnasts from 10 regions of the country, including students of the Volga Region University of Sports and Tourism. Current champion of Russia, including Yulia Nikolayeva (pictured), a first-year student of the sports university, will be among the competitors.

The athletes will compete for six sets of medals - in the team competitions, individual events and individual events. This will be a stage of selection for the national team to participate in the national championship that will be held in Kazan in March.

The championship is organised by the Centre for Sports Training and the Burevestnik Physical Culture and Sports Society. The panel of judges was made up of students, coaches and teachers of the Gymnastics Theory and Methodology Chair headed by head coach Lyubov Botova.

The competition will begin at 9.30 a.m. on 8th and 9th February and at 10 a.m. on 10th February.
