The 11th Physical Education Olympiad of the Volga Region University of Sport and Tourism has started today - on 3 February - at the facilities of the sports university. The full-time competition involves 48 students from four regions of the country: the Republic of Chuvashia, Ulyanovsk and Kirov regions, and the Republic of Tatarstan.
After the first stage, i.e. testing on theory, methodology and history of physical education and sport, the best contestants were invited to take part in the intramural round in Kazan. The future university entrants will be tested in indoor football, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, track and field athletics, swimming.
In addition to letters of commendation and prizes, the absolute winners of the Olympiad will be granted two extra points when entering a sports university, the runners-up will be awarded one extra point. Winners and runners-up will be awarded on February 5 as part of the Open Day.
Apart from the competition programme for schoolchildren, the seminar Psychological and Pedagogical Support of the Educational Process in Physical Culture and Sports under Presentday Conditions will be held for physical education teachers who came to the capital of Tatarstan along with the contestants. The eight-hour course is organized by the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of the Volga Region University. At the end of the seminar the participants will receive a certificate.
