The Rector's Cup Table Tennis Spartakiade among the faculty and staff of the Volga Region University was held the previous day at one of the facilities of the university - the Tennis Academy.
As many as 40 players of 11 teams competed for the awards, first in subgroups on a circular system, later in a six-team 'net'. The winners and runners-up will be announced as part of the Healthy Environment competition, scheduled for February.
Ahead of this tournament, the winners and runners-up in the Rector's Cup Swimming Spartakiade were honoured. At that time 37 people competed at the starting line of the 50m freestyle.
Polina Knyazeva (Aquatics Palace) and Vladislav Karfik (Department of Theory and Methodology of Track and Field Athletics and Rowing) were the winners in the individual event, Galina Petrova (Department of Biomedical Disciplines) and Igor Lebedev (Aquatics Palace) got silver medals and Maria Martyusheva (Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Education and Sport) and Dmitry Basin (Department of Theory and Methodology of Aquatics and Rowing) got bronze medals.
In the team event the victory was celebrated by representatives of the team of Educational and Sports Complexes, the second place went to the swimmers of the Institute of Sports-2, the third was taken by the athletes of Team 1.
