Today, Marat Akhmetov, Deputy Chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan, laid flowers at the memorial to Dmitry Usov, a graduate of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism, Master of Sport of Russia, Russian Swimming Champion, sergeant and combat veteran, who died heroically in the performance of his military duty in the special operation in Ukraine.

On December 9, a meeting dedicated to the unveiling of the commemorative plaque to Guards Sergeant Usov took place at the University of Physical Culture and Tourism. The event was attended by Dmitry's parents Vladimir Dmitrievich and Marina Aleksandrovna, his wife Arjuna Eduardovna, and the hero's children.

Having studied from the 1st to the 7th forms in Gymnasium No.139 of Kazan, upon completion of the 7th form he entered Olympic Reserve School No.1 in St. Petersburg. During training repeatedly showed high results in swimming competitions of all-Russian and international levels.

From the age of 15 was a member of the Russian national youth swimming team.

In 2009 he won a prize for supporting talented young people.

In 2010 he became a champion in the 50m freestyle at the Russian championships, and he achieved the Russian Swimming Master of Sport title that same year.

In 2011 Dmitry Usov won Russian Junior Swimming Championships in freestyle and medley relay.

In 2012 he was a member of the Russian national swimming team.

After leaving the Olympic Reserve School, he entered the Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health in St Petersburg. But after completing his first year, he transferred to the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism (then the Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism). In 2013, he won silver in the 50m freestyle at the Volga Federal District Championships.

After graduating from the university in 2016, he was drafted into the Russian Armed Forces as an enlisted man. He did his military service in Ulan-Ude, upon completion of service in 2017 he signed a contract with the rank of junior sergeant. By order of the commander of the military unit he was promoted to the rank of sergeant.

He performed special tasks in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, a veteran of combat operations. By orders of the Russian Minister of Defence Dmitry Usov was awarded the medals "Participant in the manoeuvres of troops(forces) "Vostok-2018", "Participant in the military operation in Syria", "For Military Valour" II degree and "For Military Valour" I degree, in 2019 by order of the Commander of the Russian Airborne Troops - the medal "For Excellence".

In March this year Dmitry Vladimirovich died in a special military operation in the territories of the Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic and Ukraine... A feat is not just courage and heroism, it is great work, iron discipline, unbending will and great love for the Motherland.

He was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage for his courage and heroism by a decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
