In Kazan, in the Bashir Rameyev IT Park. Bashir Rameyev held an awards ceremony for the "Heroes of Our Time" public prize winners. The Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism won the award in the Humanitarian Staff category. Rector of the university, Rafis Burganov, received the award from the hands of Farid Mukhametshin, Chairman of the State Council and Secretary of the United Russia party.
The annual award ceremony is initiated by the regional branch of the United Russia party and the Young Guard party. Rustam Kalimullin, State Duma deputy, Alexander Terentyev, State Council deputy, Olga Voronova, representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, and public organisations also presented the awards.
"Every story once again confirms the well-known phrase 'heroes are not born, they become heroes'," said Farid Mukhametshin. "Tatarstan, and Russia in general, have always been famous for their heroes, proud of their great deeds. I believe there will be more and more laureates of this public award every year as there is always time and space for a feat".
Young heroes who are under the age of 18 were also in attendance. "We have wonderful young people, we are convinced of that again and again," said Farid Mukhametshin, "a young generation worthy of their fathers and grandfathers.
"We admire your every action," said Marat Samigullin, Head of the United Russia party's regional executive committee. "It's important that you perform all your good deeds not for recognition but out of the call of your soul. As long as there are people like you, there is always room for heroism in life.
The stories of the Heroes of Our Time award winners, the youngest of which is 11 years old and the oldest is 71, are varied. These people save lives, fight criminals, help to raise money for expensive treatment, take in eight children each, plant and cultivate hectares of forest, sew puppets and put on plays for children, achieve notable successes in their studies and work, and volunteer.
Separately honoured were military servicemen and volunteers taking part in the SSO, as well as those Tatarstanis who carelessly organise humanitarian missions to help mobilised and peaceful citizens of the new territories of our country, humanitarian headquarters and public associations that collect humanitarian aid for internally displaced people from the LNR and DNR.
"Every year the number of award winners increases," said State Council deputy and head of the regional branch of the Young Guard Dinar Bariev, "many come with their families, and this is very valuable as you pass on the tradition of doing good.
The "Heroes of Our Time" project has been implemented in the republic since 2013. Over the 9 years of its existence, the project has grown: first to republican (in 2016), then it acquired district, federal status. Today it is supported by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the United Russia Party and Young Guard.
In total, around 30-40 people from all regions of the Volga Federal District become laureates every year.
Since 2017, the Young Heroes Forum has been held within the framework of the award, where children who have done heroic deeds, young athletes, winners of Olympiads and competitions are awarded.
This year's awards took place in four categories: "Young Hero", "Hero of Our Time", "Participant in Humanitarian Missions" and "Humanitarian Staff".
